Ya'll think about this one.

If you were a shelter ferret......

.....You would most likely be in a cage most of the time because shelter mom or dad has so many other ferrets like you they have to be able to keep track of you.

.....You would be in jail essentially until your knight in shining armor mom and dad came to adopt you and give you the loving home you deserve.

.....Sometimes you would have to wait for the volunteers whose faces sometimes are changed every day so you never really know who is going to clean your litter box so you can go potty in it again or even when they are coming.

.....Every day you sit and wait for the shelter folks to change your water so it is clean once again so it's safe to play in and drink once more.

.....You know that your shelter mommy and daddy are doing the best they can and don't have enough help and sometimes they run out of that green stuff that they buy you things with. But you still depend on them every day to take care of you until you get to go home with someone they told you they trust.

.....Somedays you sit there and just lay around all day waiting and waiting.....and wondering why you're here and not at your other home you used to live in.

.....When they first took you home, they played games with you alot. But then as time went on, they spent less and less time with you until they brought you here to be at the shelter.

.....You can feel the love they have for you here at the shelter, and they do talk to you all the time.

.....Most times you don't even get to meet the other ferrets that come into the shelter because your shelter mommy and daddy are afraid you'll catch something from the new guys and girls that just came in. Oh! You get to talk to the others f rom your cage that you're in, but after awhile, everyone runs out of things to talk about.

.....You here alot of stories about the homes everyone used to live in and boy, are you glad you didn't live in one of those other homes! Those guys were lucky to get here alive!

.....Last week you got sick cuz someone that cleaned your cage had something and they gave it to everyone on your side of the room. You're better now though, as it only lasted a couple of days.

.....Oh boy! Someone is getting out in the cage next to you! That means you're next to get out and play.

.....Some days you get out for a little while and some days a real long time. I guess it's just a matter of how much help your shelter mommy and daddy have that day and how good the weather is.

.....Well, it's your turn to get out now and go play and find those things you stashed yesterday and play with them some more.

.....You just hope someone else didn't find your stash and hide it somewhere else.

.....By the time you find it, it will be time to go back to your cage, all cleaned, with fresh litter, food and water, carpet and a clean hammy to sleep in.

.....You will be tired by then and ready to sleep..... and dream about the nice home that your shelter mommy and daddy promised they would find for you.

.....Sleep well my sweet little friend, goodnite and hugs.
