I just finished laughing through your
"Games Fuzzbutts like to play"
and am now wiping the tears from my face.

I'd like to tell you a story
but don't have the time to do the events
and ferret in my life true justice,...but here goes:
|
In the 6th grade, I wanted a ferret so badly that I placed all the phone calls, made the
arrangements and even made a cage for my expected new friend. My mom and I went to a woman's
house with at least 10 ferrets running around like, well.. ferrets! I picked out a cute baby
and an hour or so later, we had paid and everything, we got out to the car and it latched
onto my finger. After many tears and hard feelings we returned the ferret to the woman,
as soon as she pried it off of my finger with a popsicle stick. Finally recovering from that most traumatic experience, about one year later, I announced to my mom that I wanted to give the furry little ones another shot. After an additional year of persistance and persuasion, she finally (but very reluctantly) agreed to look around. The first place we went to was the house of a very nice man in Port Orchard, Washington who had a whole room for his fuzzbutts. He had rescued many of them and also bred and sold them (very cautiously) to only people of which passed the very honest, eye-opening interview process. We ended up getting a beautiful young sable. I named her Sadie. |

|
We of course got her descented ASAP but noticed she still had quite a musk. At first my mom hated her and almost took her away from me. She was very frightened by her behavior and thought her stupid and mean. It took her a good year or more to even touch her. She is still warming up to her and now I am a senior in high school. I am constantly saying, "Mom! Look at Sadie...look what she did now... how cute she looks...awww" |

|
My mom has finally grown to love her through my persistance and insistance. A few months ago, my mom told me how, until just recently, she absolutely regretted bringing Sadie into our home. I love Sadie with all of my heart and I completely relate to your stories and webpage (which, by the way, are very well written). I don't really know why, after such an awful first experience, I still had the desire for that sharp-toothed creature, but I am so very glad I gave them another try. All of Sadie's crazy antics keep me light-hearted and always smiling. I was laughing so hard when reading your Ferret Games that tears were streaming down my cheeks.... and the best part of all: My mom was crying right along side of me. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your Fuzzbutt-times with others. |

Thank YOU, Julia, for sharing your story...

Some people are destined to be "Special Ferret People" I feel Julia is one of those... Her love for ferrets surviving through that first bad experience at such a young age... then being able to get another ferret and love it and take care of it even though her mom did not like it... and still being able to show her mom what wonderful little creatures they are... I wish you the best of luck in your life, Julia.. |
