          Geezer & Tunees update...[from Kris]...3-19-2001...

Hi Kat: I'm sending some picks of the surgeries on them both.(nothing sickening)

The surgeries went very well for the both of them! I'm very proud of them.

          First was Tunees:

[click on the underlined words to see the pics]

I had to tip the cup for the gas so Doc could do the surgery. As you can see from the 1st pic - our Tunees is quite large and bald! He has had 3 surgeries since he's been here. In the 2nd pic you can see the growth on his right eye the 3rd pic shows him with it removed. He was under for only 10 minutes, so he came out of it real fast and was alert. Poor baby has been through a lot since he came in. Because of his fat , we can't do surgeries on him any more.

Then came our boy Geezer (old man Geez) :

He did wonderfully. Had to put the gas on full so we could get him down quickly (on #5 for two minutes). Then Doc came in with this awful looking tool, about 1/4 inch round and hollow in the middle. She put that in his mouth and started pushing, twisting and turning it until it wouldn't go any farther. Pull off a good portion of mass from his gums, and believe it or not, he had teeth under it. Little ittiy bitty teeth. He bled quite a bit, but it stopped in a few minutes. Doc chose not to extract his tooth he was bleeding to much and didn't want to put him back under . She said its not rotting away, or seeming to bother him, so to let it be. She sent in the mass for a biopsy, and we should have the results within the week! His only took eight minutes. After a little while, Mary warmed up his food and he ate the whole bowl full. That put a smile on both of our faces.

( As I'm typing,Geez is bringing me my daily rations of Ferret Bits & Raisins. He does it every night!). His nose seems a little clogged, because its whistling (like the guy on Ally McBeal! LOL).

It was a long day of surgeries, going from 9:00am - 7:30 pm. We did all together 12 surgeries. Two of our babies didn't make it.

Sidney had both adrenals removed and two nodules on his pancreas removed. He lasted for about 5 hours, then he went into seizures (the screaming kind), we tried everything, but we had to put him down. With pretty much everyone in tears.

Emily had both adrenals removed, but died Last night at 11:00pm in my arms. We loved them both very much, like I said in my last e-mail "God chose them", so they are in a better place where they are whole again, and I'll see them when I meet them at the Bridge.

All the other babies made it just fine. We found out that one of our little girls (Noel) will be with us until her time because she has 2 large tumors on her liver, so there's nothing we can do for her either.

We had 3 other couples there, 2 for adrenals and one for a spay and decent. One couple who adopted Lucky from us found the same in him as they did with Emily. So he'll be with them for about 6 months too.

So that's how it went yesterday. Not great but not real bad as I thought it would be. I would like to thank you for all your support and prayers for all our babies (exp. Geezer & Tunees). I did tell them that aunt Kat loves them and gave them kisses before I put them under for their surgeries.

God Bless you and Thank you Kat!!

          Love :
